Выходил в Москве с 1922 г. в издательстве «Рабочая газета», с 1932 г.— в издательстве «Правда». Возникновение связано с «Рабочей газетой» (ранее «Рабочий») — органом ЦК ВКП(б), начавшим издаваться в Москве в 1922 г. под редакцией К. С. Еремеева. Талантливый коллектив сотрудников создал новый тип массовой газеты, рассчитанной на рабочего читателя. 27 августа 1922 г. вместо очередного выпуска приложения (№ 13) подписчики «Рабочей газеты» получили первый выпуск «Крокодила». Новый журнал отличался от своего предшественника не только названием. В первом номере в программном стихотворении Демьяна Бедного «Красный Крокодил — смелый из смелых! — против крокодилов черных и белых» четко формулируется задача издания: "Добираться до всякой гнилости И ворошить гниль без всякой милости, Чтоб нэповская муть не цвела И не гнила Вот какова задача Красного Крокодила!.." «Крокодил» быстро приобретает огромную популярность в рабочей среде. Стремительно растет тираж. К началу 1923 г. он достигает 150 тыс. экз.— невиданной по тем временам цифры для изданий подобного рода. ...Скриншоты:
